Medical school was paid for by the US Army, so my first year after graduation was spent at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, where I was awarded ‘General Surgery Intern of the Year’ by the surgery physician staff.  The next 4 years I was assigned as a General Medical Officer in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

My years at Pine Bluff were spent as the Chief Medical Officer of a Primary Care clinic, where we had an ambulance, pharmacy, lab, and X-ray capabilities.  (Try not to be too impressed by the Chief Medical Officer title - for 3 of the 4 years, I was the only Medical Officer in the clinic! )

I am a native of Colorado, and spent my early childhood years growing up in North Denver with my 5 sisters and 1 brother.

My father was a very talented man who worked in the construction industry, and later his own business.  My mother mostly stayed home to take care of the family.  Both were products of the Great Depression, and similar to others in their generation were hard working and showed a tremendous faith in God, themselves, and the power of hard work and individual effort.

My grandparents were immigrants from Northern Italy, and came to the Central City area to work in the gold mines.  Later, they moved to Denver as the mines began to close.

I attended Saint Catherine Catholic school until the 5th grade.  The family moved to Longmont, where I graduated from High School in 1979.

I earned a Bachelors and Masters degree from Colorado State University, and then attended the University of Colorado Medical School.  I graduated in 1993 with a M.D. Degree.

After leaving the Army, I completed residency training at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver.  The next 10 years were spent working with Kaiser Permanente. Denver House Calls was established in October 2011.

I have been married for about 25 years, and my wife and I have 5 great kids.

Hobbies include fishing and gardening.

I have worked in a variety of clinic settings, from military medicine, to emergency room care, to large HMO clinics.

No matter where I have practiced medicine, one thing has always remained the same - I genuinely love being a doctor, and I am passionate about taking great care of my patients.
